2018 Echezeaux Grand Cru, Domaine du Clos Frantin

The Frantin plot, totalling an enviable hectare, is in the Champs Traversins where there is quite a lot of sand and gravel in the soil and the slope is quite steep. It’s a fairly cool site, which coupled with the make-up of the soil has ensured a wine of rare finesse in this vintage. The 60% new oak is well absorbed and the palate is energetic and focussed with a nice linear quality to it.
