2021 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Blanchot Dessus, Domaine Darviot-Perrin

This highly regarded 1er Cru neighbours a little-known vineyard called Le Montrachet. It is not much more than a hectare in size and its handful of owners each have just a small but very sought after and valuable part of it. The soil is gravelly and limestone rich and provides an excellent counterbalance to its south-facing exposition. As it reveals more in the glass with air, it almost becomes more backward, the more it shows, the more it suggests it has. The poise is energising and there is a real tensile feel to the texture. Classy juice that will keep improving for some time.
