2017 Roero Riserva Roche d'Ampsej, Az. Ag. Matteo Correggia

The 2017 Roero Riserva Roche d'Ampsèj is another terrific wine in this range from Correggia. It shows the breadth and richness of the year, but without the excess weight that penalised some past vintages. Orange peel, spice, mint, tobacco, rose petal and dried herbs lend notable character. My impression is that the 2017 will offer its finest drinking over the next decade or so, as there is already a bit of aromatic development.
