2018 Maranges 1er Cru La Fussière, Domaine Bertrand Bachelet

Fussière is Maranges’ largest and more important 1er Crus, stretching way up from the valley floor to the top of the steep slope. It’s planted with mainly Pinot Noir, although there is a little white wine made at the top of the slopes on the stonier soil. This has a great balance of stony red fruit and ripe, but well defined, juicy darker fruits with a touch of earth and spice, reflecting the changing makeup of the soils across the vineyard. Again this is great value for a wine that will age with grace and confidence.
