2024 Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru Les Ruchots, Domaine Arlaud

Ruchots is one of Morey’s very finest sites, sitting on rock to the south of the village, above La Bussière and below the two Grands Crus of Clos de Tart and Bonnes Mares; not a bad location. The soil gives stony minerality, but the site is warm and the wine is consequently powerful and rich and very much built to last. Cyprien adds his twist of elegance, so it tends towards the refined rather than the powerful, the intellectual rather than the brutish. It’s a very serious wine. Drink from 2032
