Store wines to us

Store with us

We work with London City Bond (LCB) to store wines on our clients’ behalf.

Storage conditions

Wines are stored in optimal conditions in the Drakelow Tunnels at stable and low temperatures with ideal humidity levels. The site has year found security with additional measures to ensure wines are safe at all times.

Online account

Clients can view their reserves on their account online, where they can also see market values and other information about the wines. Reserves can be downloaded as Excel files. Further enhancements are underway so that in the future, clients will be able to withdraw wines and list wines for sale online.

Withdrawing wine

Clients can instruct our team by email ([email protected]) to have wines from their reserves delivered. For deliveries to London, please instruct our team by 12:30 for deliveries the following day. For deliveries outside of the M25, we will provide you with an ETA upon instruction. You will receive a text message on the morning of the delivery with a delivery window for the wine.

Transferring your wines to our warehouse (from within the UK)

Clients may choose to consolidate their wines at our bonded cellar, typically to either better keep track of wines in one place and on one online account, or to take advantage of our Le Clos member storage rates.

We regret that we do not accept the transfer of duty paid wines unless we can complete an inspection of the facilities in which they’ve been stored prior to their transfer to us.

If you wish to transfer single bottles we will require a condition report (the prevailing prices for which are listed on our terms and conditions) as there is additional risk of damage to the bottle on its way to us.

To initiate an inbound transfer, we require the following information about the wines that you intend to move

  • The name of the sending merchant, or otherwise where the wine is coming from
  • Then, for all wines:
    • Producer
    • Name of the wine
    • Vintage
    • Bottle size (volume)
    • Pack size (we only accept full cases)
    • ABV
    • Number of bottles
    • Purchase price of the wine

Our preference is for you to provide this information using the following spreadsheet.

We will then provide this information to our warehouse, who will use it to create a unique reference (“RESIN”) reflecting all of the wines that they are expecting, which we will pass on to you.

You must then instruct the sending merchant to initiate the outbound transfer and provide them with the RESIN. They will then schedule the transfer with our receiving warehouse, including the RESIN which ensures the wines can be traced and confirmed from sender to receiver.

When the wine has safely arrived at our warehouse, the experienced LCB team will check it and will advise us of any inconsistencies which we will take up with you. They will also provide us with a ‘goods received’ note which advises us what has been delivered against we will check your instruction. We will then upload these wines to your account online. We will make every effort to advise you when they are available on your account for you to check that all is in order, as per our terms and conditions.

If you are transferring wines from outside the UK

Please follow the above process, though in addition, please also advise us who is shipping the wines.
