2020 Pernand-Vergelesses 1er Cru En Caradeux, Domaine Rapet Père & Fils

This is a really interesting vineyard that looks across to the hill of Corton with an east facing exposition. Its steep slope is formed of gravel, sand and rock. The very top of the vineyard is actually classified as village, but the rest of the site which makes up the majority of the plot is 1er Cru. This is more mineral than the village Pernand but also has more substance and presence and will certainly benefit from extra ageing. It's full of character and the mix of rich fruit and toned structure is a delight. Quite a serious wine.
