Having spent time at Henschke and Vieux Telepgraphe, Rodolphe returned to Montafucon to take over the estate in 1995.
Since his arrival he has increased the hectarage from 18 to 45 hectares and also rebuilt the wonderfully imposing château that lies just across the river from Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Rodolphe is keen to have Montfaucon granted its own appellation. The wines are certainly good enough and are full of personality. For now they remain as humble Côtes-du-Rhônes but when you taste, especially with some age on, you will quickly realise that they are anything but humble.
