A hard morning’s tasting at Vin Italy in Verona in the spring of 2011 was all set to be worrying fruitless until we fell upon this quality driven winery.
Having trawled our way through dozens of incipid, flat, dilute and down right dull whites from north-east Italy (and many of these were from well-regarded sources) we were thrilled to find these intense, vibrant wines full of personality. Winemaker, Igor Branko, took over from his father, Branko Erzetic, who set up the winery in 1950. The wines get rave reviews from Italian bible, the Gambero Rosso, and are delightful. The Chardonnay is a particular highlights for us, showing impressive minerality.
