The energetic and ambitious Jean-Baptiste Ponsot is now in his early thirties, although he still looks younger, yet has entered his second decade at the head of the family domaine.
His father used to sell off much of his production but JB has gradually increased the amount of fruit he keeps and now bottles the bulk of his juice. Quality has been on a steep upward curve, too, both the reds and the whites. New oak has become better integrated and as a range the wines have developed a real vibrancy and energy. Confirmation that he has made it arrived with the award of a Gold Medal in the 2011 International Wine Challenge Awards for his stunning 2008 Rully 1er Cru Molesme Blanc.
