When her husband, Romain, tragically passed away in 2004, took the brave decision to rename the domaine after her children and run it herself.
Her real passion is the vines themselves which considering this is where great wines begin is terrific news. Most of the vineyards are old (the villages wines average 43 years, the 1ers Crus 62 years and the Grands Crus 47 years.) and Kellen is great believer in working with them rather than against them and wants their innate character and concentration of fruit to come through later in the glass. Under Romain, the Clos de la Roche was one of Burgundy’s most sought after wines and it remains the iconic flag bearer today. Yet the whole range is impressive, from the intense villages wines, up through the tiny production Chambolle Baudes (which sits just below Bonnes Mares) to the awesome, long living GCs. Five years on and Kellen has really got the domaine working well and we are delighted to be her UK agent.
