It’s been a busy few weeks at Flint Wines. We all spent some time out in Bordeaux tasting the 2010s, which look really exciting. The first wines have been released (very slowly) during May with the big names expected to be released throughout June. So far there is not the frenzy there was with the 2009s which is shame as some of the wines, remarkably, may be even better.

Jason went to Vin Italy at the beginning to April and found a few new exciting things out there which should hit the list in the coming months.

We are currently working on a new list, which feature these new Italians plus some new American wines, which Sam has been busy uncovering. And, of course, it will be packed full of lovely Burgundy!

For the first time we entered some Burgundy in to the International Wine Challenge and came out with 8 medals, including a gold and a couple of silvers. It’s nice to see France winning awards in a competition in which it is often overshadowed by its new world counterparts.

The first three months of the year have just flown by. January became our most succesful trading month ever thanks to an incredibly sucessful 2009 Burgundy campaign. Hannah Dalton also joined us to help make us much more efficient and is currently beavering away to get our expensive new stock and invoicing system up and running successfully.

We held a brilliant 2008 Red Burgundy tasting for certain journalists and members of the trade in February, which proved just how great the wines are. Lots more details to follow.

The fourth dinner club dinner took place last month at l’Autre Pied with a Gevrey Chambertin theme. A full review will be issued shortly.

And next week we jet off to Bordeaux to taste the 2010 clarets and Italy to find a few new things there at Vin Italy, so busy times ahead. We have also begun work on a new website which we hope will go live some time in May and be much more interactive and up to date.
