Flint Wines was set in up 2006 by Jason Haynes and Sam Clarke. Master Sommelier Gearoid Devaney came on board in the autumn of 2010.
Jason works very much on the buying side, spending much of his time in Burgundy, liaising with growers and hoping to spot the next big talent before anyone else. In 2009, with fifteen years of buying experience behind him, he was ‘knighted’ at the renowned Clos Vougeot by the Confrerie des Chevaliers du Tastevin and returned to the same building a year later to marry a Burgundian daughter!
Sam looks after much of the private client business, helping many of our clients build up exciting cellars from scratch. Before setting up Flint Wines he amassed a serious cellar of his own so understands exactly what it entails. Whether you are simply looking to fill in a few gaps in your existing collection, or begin buying your first bottles or perhaps want to get involved from an investment perspective Sam will be able to advise you. If you would prefer to discuss your needs while swinging a golf club that can also be arranged!
Gearoid is one of the most well-known and qualified sommeliers in the country, having passed his Master Sommelier qualification in 2009 and having worked in some of the top restaurants across Europe. Food is as much his passion as wine so any questions regarding matching the two together will be lovingly dealt with by him.
Hannah joined Flint Wines in early 2011 and runs the office. She is mad keen on wine and is well on the way to becoming one of the more (officially) qualified members of the team as she works her way through the diploma.
Philippa joined Flint Wines in 2012, working on regional Trade Sales and supporting Jason’s ever growing list of Burgundy growers. Philippa’s love of Burgundy is already deeply entrenched having worked at Richard Walford’s for four years on their Burgundy en primeur campaigns. Philippa has won awards for both her WSET Advanced certificate and Diploma and when not thinking about wine, she can be found watching Formula 1.
