Albarino from Rais Baixas has grabbed all the recent attention focussed on north-west Spain. However, we chose this wine because it excited us and we felt it could more than give those Albarinos a run for their money.
The winery is based in the region of Valdeorras, which is situated in the eastern part of the province of Orense. It borders the province of León, which is the natural entrance to Galicia. Godello is the grape of the region here and at this particular winery it has produced wto fabulous wines. The Classico is aged in stainless steel and is vibrant and aromatic whilst the Seleccion spends time in new oak casts and is creamier and richer, though still fresh and dynamic.
