This has been established as one of the best southern Rhône domaines outside of Chateauneuf for some time now, depiste its relative youth. Run by Louis Barroul the domaine is based in Gigondas but also produces wines from the northern rhone from grapes bought in from contracted growers. We are concentrating our attention on his domaine wines which are terrific examples of their appellation.
Louis makes several Gigondas, although the single vineyard wines tend to sell out instantly en primeur. The ‘basic’ one is a delight and with its unctuous fruit character can be approached relatively young although it can, of course, be kept for upwards of five years.
