Having produced the Wine Spectator's Wine of the Year in 2007 with his 2005 Chateauneuf du Pape, Paul Avril's wines seem to be in even greater demand than ever. We are delighted to receive a small allocation of his Chateauneuf each year which we tend to 'allocate' before Christmas. As Flint Wines ages so we hope to increase our allocation; in the meantime we are open to both flattery and bribes if you wish to secure a few bottles.
Because, we love the style of his wines, we couldn't resist shipping over some of his 'house wine', which he has to bottle (with a dinky label) as a 'Vin de Table'. It tastes more like a refined Pinot Noir than a crude Cotes du Rhone and is a delight. It provides a little opportunity to indulge in a touch of Avril without having to offer your bank manager a glass.
