8th February
We haven't written any news for some months but we've been too busy creating it to have found the time to reveal it!
BURGUNDY 2008 - Christmas already seems like an age ago and we are well into our 2008 Burgundy campaign, which so far has been very well received. Jancis Robinson kindly picked 5 of our wines to feature in her 14 2008 Burgundy Bargains and Allen Meadows, aka Burghound (www.burghound.com), has rave reviews about many of our growers. This year's offer is our biggest to date with sveral new domaines featured and we hope to surpass it next year with the 2009s. Rest assured we will continue to visit the region to seek out exciting new domaines before then.
RHONE 2008 - Over the next few months we will be releasing a 2008 Rhone Offer, which will perhaps be a touch mroe succint than the 2007 version but still feature the likes of Beaucastel, Vieille Julienne, Ferme du Mont, Clos des Papes and La Roubine.
BORDEAUX 2009 - April will see the beginning of the 2009 Bordeaux campaign with the various tastings out in France followed by the release of all the Chateaux in the subsequent months. We didn't really get involved in the 2008s and remain convinced that Parker has overstated their worth, but we will be playing in 2009 and ask your to get in touch should you be interested in securing some allocations.
17th August
As you will see from our home page we have set Flint Wines up on Facebook to make it as easy as possible for you to keep up to date with what we are doing. We will still update this news section for those of you who 'don't do facebook' but we hope it will enable us to be communicative. We will also include a rolling tasting section so that you can post details of good (or bad) bottles you have drunk and discuss them with fellow customers.
In other news, we our conducting an introductory Burgundy Tasting at the Cafe Anglais on Monday September 7th followed by dinner with a game theme. The tasting is free for all those staying for dinner. Please contact us or the restaurant directly to reserve a place.
The harvest in Burgundy is just around the corner. It looked like it might be another early one following the now traditional fine spring weather bit a mild mid-summer should mean a starting date of aroudn mid-September. Our visits out there to taste the 2008 will begin shortly afterwards and continue up until Christmas.
We also about to fix the date of our Christmas tasting, which will be held towards the end of November.
