JULY 2010

5th July

The last three months has seen us massively pre-occupied with 2009 Bordeaux which began with our annual visit to the main tastings at the end of March and has literally just finished now! It's been a unique and dramatic campaign full of both startling wines and some startling prices, too. For what we have left please click here to see our final offer.

April saw Jason finally get married. The carefully chosen weekend in Burgundy held up its end of the bargain and produced a gorgeous sunny day with temperatures of 24 degrees and in the evening guests worked their way through classic Burgundian fayre.

June played host to the inaugural dinner of the recently formed Flint Wines Dinner Club, which took place at Galvin La Chapelle and featured a fascinating array of wines and plenty of entertaining chat. If you wish to become a become a member do please get in touch. The next dinner is to be held in September.

June also saw us pick up the new agency of Gramercy in Washington State which adds depth to our burgeoning list of American wineries which also now includes Cristom (Oregon), Snowden (Napa) and Rochioli (California).

We have just completed (June 30th)our fourth year of trading (doesn't seem that long!) and are delighted to have seen growth of about 40% on laat year. We hope to see the same kind of devlopment again this year thanks to plenty of new wines and plenty of new customers!

FEBRUARY 2010

8th February

We haven't written any news for some months but we've been too busy creating it to have found the time to reveal it!

BURGUNDY 2008 - Christmas already seems like an age ago and we are well into our 2008 Burgundy campaign, which so far has been very well received. Jancis Robinson kindly picked 5 of our wines to feature in her 14 2008 Burgundy Bargains and Allen Meadows, aka Burghound (www.burghound.com), has rave reviews about many of our growers. This year's offer is our biggest to date with sveral new domaines featured and we hope to surpass it next year with the 2009s. Rest assured we will continue to visit the region to seek out exciting new domaines before then.

RHONE 2008 - Over the next few months we will be releasing a 2008 Rhone Offer, which will perhaps be a touch mroe succint than the 2007 version but still feature the likes of Beaucastel, Vieille Julienne, Ferme du Mont, Clos des Papes and La Roubine.

BORDEAUX 2009 - April will see the beginning of the 2009 Bordeaux campaign with the various tastings out in France followed by the release of all the Chateaux in the subsequent months. We didn't really get involved in the 2008s and remain convinced that Parker has overstated their worth, but we will be playing in 2009 and ask your to get in touch should you be interested in securing some allocations.

AUGUST 2009

17th August

As you will see from our home page we have set Flint Wines up on Facebook to make it as easy as possible for you to keep up to date with what we are doing. We will still update this news section for those of you who 'don't do facebook' but we hope it will enable us to be communicative. We will also include a rolling tasting section so that you can post details of good (or bad) bottles you have drunk and discuss them with fellow customers.

In other news, we our conducting an introductory Burgundy Tasting at the Cafe Anglais on Monday September 7th followed by dinner with a game theme. The tasting is free for all those staying for dinner. Please contact us or the restaurant directly to reserve a place.

The harvest in Burgundy is just around the corner. It looked like it might be another early one following the now traditional fine spring weather bit a mild mid-summer should mean a starting date of aroudn mid-September. Our visits out there to taste the 2008 will begin shortly afterwards and continue up until Christmas.

We also about to fix the date of our Christmas tasting, which will be held towards the end of November.

MARCH 2009

27th February

February may be the shortest month of the year but it seems to have disappeared in record time this year. The 2007 Burgundy campaign (2007 Burgundy Offer) has now pretty much finished but if you missed the boat we still have some wines available. Do peruse the offer and contact us for availablility.

We now turn our attention to the 2007 Rhones, a little later than planned, but well worth the wait. Our full offer should appear in the next fortnight, featuring the great, established wines of Vieille Julienne and the emerging gems from La Roubine, amongst others. In the meantime, to whet your appetite, we have a new offering from Châteauneuf du Pape which we have just released and which Jancis Robinson put in her top 3 wines of the vintage, alongside Ch. Rayas and Hommage a Jacques Perrin! 2007 Châteauneuf du Pape Offer.

We have also introduced a weekly Thursday Offer which will normally feature a new wine or something that we have recently re-tasted that has blown us away. If you get your order in early enough you will be able to have the wine for the oncoming weekend!

And lastly, we must mention that we have just a few places left left at our exciting Burgundy Dinner, which is being held on March 31st at Le Cafe Anglais in London, with Jeremy Seysses of Domaine Dujac as our guest speaker. Jeremy will be talking through the terroir differences of some great vineyards as we pit the wines of Morey-St-Denis against those of Vosne-Romanée.

JANUARY 2009

11th January

Happy New Year to all our customers. Last week saw the £ make a very positive recovery against the Euro, although we still have some way to go to get back to where we were a couple of months ago. Still it's a step in the right direction and should enable us to keep prices in check over the coming months. This week we launch our 2007 Burgundy Offer, supported by a comprehensive tasting this Monday (12th Jan) of 76 examples of this lovely vintage. We are delighted with how the vintage has turned out and hope you will feel inspired to get involved. Please do contact us if you have any questions regarding any of the wines.

In February we aim to release a 2007 Rhone Offer. The vintage has already received lots of hype and we hope to have plenty of good things to offer.
