The Loire Valley is as beautiful as it is long, adorned with some of the country's very finest Chateaux as it gently meanders its way across central France. As a wine region it encompasses a plethora of appellations, including Muscadet to the west and Sancerre and Pouilly Fume to the east. In between there are the often delightful red wines of Chinon and Saint Nicholas de Bourgeuil, the everlasting Chenin Blancs of Vouvray, both dry and sweet, and the ubiquitous Sauvignons of Touraine. A wine list in any decent restaurant wil feature various examples from most of the appellations found in the Loire. If there is one element that links all of these wines, it is that they tend to offer great value for money and be wonderfully food friendly.
We are still building our Loire section but for now, we feature a progressive and top class family domaine in Sancerre (Natter), by way of contrast the more delicate chararcteristics of a Menetou Salon (Jacolin), the seriously good Sauvignons de Touraines from Charmoise and some definitive red wine from Saint Nicholas de Bourgeuil (Mabileau).
