This domaine has an interesting recent history. Italian Fabio Montrasi  was living in Italy with his wife, Claire Gazeau, when she inherited the family estate in the Mâconnais about ten years ago. Despite knowing little about winemaking they decided to take up the challenge and move back to France to run the domaine. Showing shrewd thinking they enlisted the help of the great Dominique Lafon of Meursault fame who helped guide them through their formative years.

Ten years on the domaine is flourishing and producing terrific Pouilly-Fuissé that bears no little similarity to its Côte d’Or peers. Pierrefolle is a small single vineyard that produces a wine full of character yet vibrant and cultured.
