This domaine has long been considered one of Chassagne's top properties but since Thierry took over from his father, Paul, a few years ago, it has moved to an even higher level. Much like Alex Moreau's domaine, were it to have some Grand Cru vineyards of its own it would have few peers.

Having said that, what it lacks in Grands Crus it makes up for in a fantastic set of 1ers Crus. Tasting through them, one is reminded of tasting at Sauzet where it's like receiving a 3D dictionary definition of the various terroirs of the village. Even in St Aubin Thierry has 2 1ers Crus, one from heavier soils and one from stoney soils (we buy the latter) and the two are totally different. As you moce up the range each wine impresses you even more than its predecessor with La Romanee the pick of the paddock, although Thierry's Caillerets is noted as being one of the very finest examples. The emphasis in style is on vibrancy, minerality and length. New oak is used sparingly and the character of the vineyards si allowed to express itself.

Alongside the domaine wines, Thierry also produces a small range of negotiant wines from top vineyards which are all made with the same philosophy.
