Pierre Damoy runs the only domaine where you have to buy the Grands Crus to get the village wines, such are his huge holdings of Clos de Beze! In fact he owns over half of the 11 hectares of this much sough after vineyard, as well as a good parcel of Chambertin and some Chapelle Chambertin. He makes backward wines of power from very low yields that need time. In fact Pierre has been trying to get some of his yields up, as they are so low, not only are they uneconomic, but they also more difficult to vinify. Quality at the domaine has never been higher and these are wines to be bought and forgotten about in your cellar until time allows them to blossom.
